Position Title: Engineer
Location: Troy, MI
Basic Purpose and Objective
Responsible for designing and developing innovative hose assemblies, tubing solutions, and related components for defense and automotive applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create custom products that meet rigorous performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects involving advanced materials and engineering challenges in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom hose assemblies, hose/tube combinations, fittings, and related components using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and prototypes for new products or modifications to existing ones.
- Provide engineering support to clients and internal teams, including feasibility studies, material selection (focusing on stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and super alloys), and performance testing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and sales teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, SAE, ISO).
- Conduct analysis and simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD) to optimize designs for durability, fluid dynamics, pressure resistance, and environmental conditions.
- Participate in product development from concept to production, including prototyping, testing, and iteration based on feedback.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials advancements, and regulatory requirements in defense and automotive sectors.
- Support off-the-shelf product enhancements and custom applications for diverse end-uses, such as military vehicles and automotive production lines.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in product design, preferably in fluid systems, hoses, tubing, or related manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering tools; experience with materials like stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and super alloys is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.
- Experience with defense or automotive industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Effective communication skills for presenting designs and collaborating with stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work on defense-related projects (ITAR compliance may be required).
