Engineer, electrica
Job Description
The primary aim of the following tasks is to assist the TA in the development, integration, and testing of the DNN-based DF algorithm and its corresponding hardware components and systems, by performing the following:
6.1 Understand CUBE Blue H7 system
The Cube Blue H7 is a high-performance flight controller used in UAV applications, and its programming and control are typically managed through PX4 or ArduPilot firmware, with tools like QGroundControl or Mission Planner. Using all the needed firmware and tools to 1) establish hardware communication between Cube and computer, and 2) develop MATLAB code to control Cube using the computer.
6.2 Understand DNN-based DF method
Since it is necessary to understand basic DNN-based DF algorithm newly developed in DRDC Ottawa Research Centre, the resource will read DRDC published papers and reports and use the knowledge in later steps.
6.3 MATLAB code development
Develop code that will convert the measured DF data in the array local coordinate system to NED coordinate system and display the DF information on a computer screen.
6.4 Filter the DF data through clustering
In practical measurements—particularly in low signal-to-noise ratio environments— numerous false alarm signals can occur. To identify genuine signals, develop a K-means clustering method combined with frequency-domain information.
6.5 Test above development using lab equipment
Develop scenarios to generate incoming wave for 4-channel receiver DF test using Threat Simulation System with Simulation View, using MATLAB to control scenarios and digitizers on FPGA generate and collect 4-channel RF signals.
6.6 Write a contract report
The report will provide detailed discussions of the code development associated with this task, along with the corresponding test results in 6.5.
