💰 Compensation: $125,000 – $165,000 + Bonus Potential + Benefits
Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Ottawa law firm, is seeking an experienced Employment Associate Lawyer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated lawyer who is passionate about employment and labour law and looking to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced legal team advising employers and employees on a broad range of workplace matters, litigation, and advisory work across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on employment and workplace matters including:
- Employment standards
- Human rights
- Occupational health & safety
- Wrongful dismissal
- Workplace investigations and policies
- Draft and review:
- Employment agreements
- Workplace policies
- Termination packages
- Restrictive covenant agreements
- Represent clients before:
- Courts and tribunals
- Labour boards
- Human rights tribunals
- Arbitration proceedings
- Collaborate with litigation and corporate law teams on employment-related matters
- Manage files independently while maintaining strong client relationships
- Contribute to business development initiatives and ongoing client growth
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of post-call experience in Employment Law
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience gained in private practice or relevant in-house counsel environment
- Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation and workplace law
- Experience handling employment litigation and advisory matters
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills
- Existing client base or business development experience considered an asset
