JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
ELECTRICIAN
Plant Maintenance & Operations Department
CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Only those persons who meet the minimum qualifications as posted should apply)
• High School Diploma or Accredited General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Note: Proof of U.S. equivalency must be provided if diploma is from outside of the United States
• Valid Texas Drivers’ License with a driving record insurable by the NISD carrier
• Current Journeyman Electrician license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
• Minimum of four years in the electrical trade working under the direct supervision of a Master electrician (verification required)
• Majority of experience in commercial and light industrial electrical systems maintenance and installation
• Experience in computer and data systems installation (preferred)
• Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Proficient in English (written and verbal)
• Proficient in use of tools and materials of the trade and able to perform required mathematics
• Ability to read and interpret electrical engineering drawings
• Valid Texas Class B (CDL) Drivers’ License preferred.
• Knowledge of the current National Electrical Code and City of San Antonio Electrical Code (Chapter 10).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for total electrical systems maintenance and construction without direct supervision in all NISD facilities.
2. Maintain an appropriate truck and inventory to allow the performance of the assigned daily tasks without delay.
3. Assist in the training of less qualified technicians.
4. Follow established guidelines in locating and purchasing materials and equipment.
5. Coordinate work with other department, shops, and/or outside contractors/vendors.
6. Ensure that assigned test equipment, tools and vehicles are maintained properly.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Lifts 10-40 pounds frequently,
40-75 pounds occasionally, more than 75 pounds infrequently. Climbs ladders, works in high places, works in cramped quarters and under buildings,
distinguishes primary colors, works in inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp). Walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged
times. Must be able to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous
environments. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and respond to after-hours emergencies. Employee may be scheduled to work different shifts
and must be able to respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day and on weekends. Employee may be scheduled/relocated to a satellite station.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager – Electrical TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
MINIMUM HOURLY RATE: $24.63 PAY GRADE: XB10
MAXIMUM HOURLY RATE: $33.39 MINIMUM WORK DAYS: 260
(Days include vacation and holiday pay)
