Overview: Electricians are responsible for repairing, servicing, and maintaining all electrical equipment throughout operations while complying with all applicable mining regulations and/or policies at all times. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the electrician must possess include:

  1. Electrical knowledge and aptitude.
  2. Have reliable attendance and safety records.
  3. Must be able to arc weld and use cutting torches.
  4. Be able to work without constant supervision.
  5. Be able to give and take directions.
  6. Knowledge of safe operations of mobile equipment used throughout all areas of the plant.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of an electrician include, but are not limited to:

  1. Safety inspections of working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be required as conditions warrant.
  2. The electrician is responsible for performing electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs to all pieces of machinery and infrastructure throughout all operations.
    • Performance of routine maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment. Clean and adjust motors, generators, starters, breakers, etc.. Repair or replace broken or damaged conduit, wire, light bulbs, and fixtures, etc.. Use voltage meters and test equipment for troubleshooting.
    • Perform preventive maintenance inspections to ensure reliability of numerous pieces of drive machinery. Reporting of malfunctioning equipment.
    • Installation of new electrical equipment during new construction, machinery revisions/updates/replacements.
    • Assist in mechanical repairs. Isolate and lock our drives to render safe working conditions. Disconnect motor leads and grounding to enable disassembly and removal of drives.
  3. The electrician is responsible for performing housekeeping duties in his work area to remove slip/trip/fall hazards. Work activities must be performed while adhering to all applicable federal/state regulations and company policies at all times.
  4. Electricians must maintain a complete set of tools within ninety (90) days of being assigned this job classification. A complete list of tools will be provided upon hire.
  5. Electricians may be required to operate mobile equipment. Proper task training and safe operation guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Employees will not operate any piece of mobile equipment. without being properly task trained as required by MSHA regulations.
Education & Experience:
  • 3-5 years of verifiable experience as an electrician in cement or lime industry required
  • Must be familiar with the care and use of meters, meggering motors and cable, and troubleshooting AC and DC starters, variable speed drives, and power distribution equipment. required
