Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Electrical Technician at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Electrical Technician will support manufacture of prototype and/or one-off Rocket or Space Systems hardware. The position will require that the individual be involved in all aspects of new product design - from initiation, planning, implementation, to closure - and participate with the design and development of various processes and hardware.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, testing and implementation of new manufacturing processes and methodologies under the direction of Engineering.
  • Support/Generate production documentation under the direction of Engineering.
  • Perform printed wiring board assembly and related soldering operations, harness assembly, equipment installations, and polymeric application.
  • Design and fabricate electrical shop aids and assemble components into related mechanical cases.
  • Dismantle, repair, assemble, fabricate, bench test, function, service and troubleshoot electronics and electrical assemblies (printed circuit boards, units, electrical harnesses) used in Rocket and Space Systems hardware.


Position Requirements / Qualifications

Required:

  • Diploma in Electronics Technology/Technician or Electrical Engineering Technology from accredited college. Equivalent training and experience may be considered.
  • Eligibility for ITAR/Controlled Goods registration and eligible for Security Clearance to “NATO Secret” level.
  • Travel will be required.

Desired/Preferred:

  • Knowledge and/or work experience in the following areas:
    • Printed Wiring Board assembly (hand and SMT soldering);
    • Polymerics (staking and conformal coating of circuit boards);
    • Cable harness manufacture.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and provide feedback on manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of IPC-J-STD-001 (Electronic Assemblies).
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 Standards (Harness).

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
  • The candidate shall be able to think and solve problems efficiently and independently.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately is important.
  • Ability to deliver multiple tasks to set schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Time management skills
