Electrical Service Coordination Manager
A great new opportunity for an Electrical Service Coordination Manager! Based on the east side of Mississauga, our client is a well-established electrical contractor with over 50 years of experience, specializing in small projects and service across the commercial, municipal, and institutional sectors.
This role is perfect for an experienced tradesperson who is technically strong, highly organized, and communicates well. You’ll be handling everything from troubleshooting a tripped breaker at a local school to quoting small- to mid-sized service jobs on-site - offering a great mix of hands-on work and coordination that keeps every day interesting.
Requirements:
- Certification: Valid Ontario 309A Journeyperson Electrician License (Ideal, Not Required).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience specifically in Service Work, either as a Lead Service Tech or a Service Coordinator/Manager.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of small tasks
- Software Skills: Exposure to service management software preferred (e.g., Accubid T&M, FieldEdge, or Jonas) and basic estimating tools. Software is not required and can be taught.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and institutional requirements for Fire Alarm and PA systems are an asset.
What’s in it for you?
- Autonomy: You will have the "keys" to the service department, with the freedom to optimize processes and grow the division.
- Compensation: Salary of $110,000 – $120,000 CAD (depending on experience) plus a vehicle allowance and potential performance incentives based on service department profitability.
- Stability: Our municipal/institutional service contracts provide year-round work, independent of the broader construction economy.
- Benefits: Full health/dental, paid vacation
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch & Coordination: Manage the daily schedules of service technicians, matching the right skill set to the right call (e.g., Fire Alarm vs. Distribution).
- Small Project Quoting: Perform site walk-throughs and provide accurate quotes for "small works" (typically $2k – $20k) including lighting upgrades, power additions, and system repairs.
- Multi-Job Management: Oversee 10–20 active service orders and small jobs, ensuring materials are ordered and labor is tracked.
- Technical Mentorship: Act as the "technical lifeline" for field staff, providing code interpretations and troubleshooting guidance over the phone or on-site.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain relationships with facility managers, property owners, and institutional stakeholders (School Boards, Municipalities, etc.).
- Emergency Response: Coordinate urgent repairs for critical systems like life safety (Fire Alarm) and main distribution failures.
