Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON or Ottawa, ON (Hybrid) – 3x on-site + 2 days remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Intermediate $100k - $115k & Senior $115k - $130k
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of integrated electrical building systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical leadership, project management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring junior team members.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality engineering solutions while overseeing projects from concept through construction completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and coordination of electrical building systems, including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting systems
- Emergency power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Security systems
- Communications and low-voltage systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop integrated design solutions.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Oversee project deliverables, schedules, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Support BIM/Revit model development and coordination.
- Provide leadership during contract administration and construction phases.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
- Apply relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices to all designs.
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineering staff.
- Participate in all project phases from planning and design through commissioning and occupancy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) required or strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of consulting engineering experience.
- Experience working on healthcare, commercial, institutional, or retail projects.
- Ability to obtain Government of Canada Security Clearance (Secret)
- Strong experience leading projects through all design and construction phases.
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Power distribution systems
- Lighting systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Communications and IMIT systems
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards, including CSA, CEC, ULC, and TIA requirements.
- Experience with BIM/Revit is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated project management, leadership, and client-facing skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- LEED accreditation is considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 plus comprehensive benefits.
