Electrical Design Engineer - DFW
Electrical Design Engineer – Drive Projects, Create Impact!
Our client, a well-established leader within the industrial processing sector, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join their project team. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to play a key part in the execution of capital projects—ranging in size and complexity—from early concept through to commissioning and handover to operations.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and supporting Project Managers, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the electrical engineering components of capital investment initiatives across multiple sites. This is a hands-on role that spans the full project lifecycle—from feasibility and design through construction, start-up, and operational transition.
What You’ll Be Doing:
-
Support the development and execution of electrical systems for greenfield and brownfield projects, process optimization, and facility upgrades.
-
Gather and interpret site-specific technical information, drawings, and flow diagrams.
-
Perform field surveys, create 3D scans, and document measurements.
-
Draft power distribution layouts, cable routing schematics, equipment lists, and instrumentation diagrams.
-
Develop engineering documentation for project estimates and procurement.
-
Collaborate with external engineering partners and contractors throughout design and execution.
-
Participate in safety, operability, and constructability reviews.
-
Ensure that construction and installation follow engineering specifications and best practices.
-
Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and system start-up.
-
Troubleshoot electrical systems and contribute to post-project evaluations.
-
Maintain organized project documentation and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
-
2–7 years of experience in industrial electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and capital project delivery.
-
Strong understanding of power systems, PLCs, control panels, HMI interfaces, and automation in an industrial setting.
-
Familiarity with electrical codes such as NEC and NFPA 70E.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; basic skills in AutoCAD preferred.
-
Ability to travel up to 50%, including extended stays at project sites.
-
Comfortable working in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and physical demands (e.g., heights, confined spaces, climbing).
Preferred Qualifications:
-
5+ years of experience in similar roles.
-
Graduate-level education or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
-
Background in mining, materials processing, or related industries.
-
Experience leading subcontractors or hourly personnel.
What’s In It For You:
-
Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
-
Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
-
401(k) with employer match.
-
Generous paid time off and holiday policy.
-
Educational assistance for continued professional growth.
-
A values-driven team culture that fosters inclusion, safety, and innovation.
