Electrical Automation Engineer

Salary: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams to conceptualize the functionality of custom automation machines.
  • Select and procure appropriate control components such as PLCs, HMIs, servos, sensors, and safety systems tailored for each project.
  • Design detailed electrical control schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Develop and program control systems using ladder logic specific to Rockwell CompactLogix PLCs and create user-friendly HMI interfaces.
  • Oversee the integration of new machines with existing equipment, conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting before deployment.
  • Engage with customers throughout the design, build, and setup phases to ensure alignment with their needs and feedback.
  • Travel to customer sites to manage the final machine installation and setup, ensuring proper operation and client satisfaction.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience with industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and pneumatics.
  • Strong programming skills with experience in Rockwell CompactLogix PLCs.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD for designing electrical schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to travel to client sites (approximately 15% travel required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience in the woodworking or similar industry with specific machine automation solutions.
  • Project management certification or demonstrated experience leading engineering projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members and clients.
