EVP Marketing in CA

The Executive Vice President of Marketing is responsible for driving enterprise-wide growth through a performance-driven, brand-aligned marketing strategy, with deep expertise in search marketing (SEO, SEM, marketplace search, and on-site search). This role owns demand generation, brand stewardship, and customer growth, ensuring that search is fully integrated with content, performance media, lifecycle, and brand marketing.

The EVP will bring a rare combination of technical search mastery, strategic leadership, and executive presence—able to scale efficient growth while protecting long-term brand equity.


Core Responsibilities

Enterprise Marketing Strategy

  • Set and lead a holistic marketing vision that aligns business objectives, brand strategy, and revenue growth.

  • Ensure search marketing is a central pillar of the company’s go-to-market and customer acquisition strategy.

  • Balance short-term performance with long-term brand and customer value.

Search Marketing Leadership (SEO, SEM & Beyond)

  • Own global search strategy including technical SEO, content SEO, local SEO, paid search, shopping feeds, and emerging AI/search platforms.

  • Oversee keyword and intent strategy across the full customer journey.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Content teams to ensure search best practices are embedded into site architecture, UX, and platform decisions.

  • Lead budget allocation and optimization across paid and organic search to maximize ROI and incrementality.

Performance & Demand Generation

  • Oversee all performance channels including paid media, affiliates, marketplaces, and conversion optimization.

  • Drive a disciplined test-and-learn culture across channels.

  • Ensure attribution models accurately reflect the role of search in multi-touch customer journeys.

Brand, Content & Upper Funnel

  • Partner with Brand and Creative leaders to ensure search-driven insights inform content, storytelling, and campaign development.

  • Align editorial, content marketing, and PR efforts with organic search opportunities.

  • Maintain brand integrity and messaging consistency across all demand channels.

Lifecycle, CRM & Customer Growth

  • Lead lifecycle marketing including email, SMS, personalization, and loyalty programs.

  • Use search and behavioral data to inform segmentation, retention, and reactivation strategies.

  • Optimize customer lifetime value alongside acquisition efficiency.

Data, Analytics & Measurement

  • Establish executive-level dashboards and KPIs covering search performance, CAC, LTV, attribution, and marketing ROI.

  • Champion advanced analytics, experimentation, and forecasting.

  • Communicate performance, insights, and investment recommendations to the CEO and Board.

Team & Organizational Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing marketing leadership team.

  • Foster close collaboration across Merchandising, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Finance.

  • Manage agency and platform partnerships, particularly in search and performance media.


Qualifications

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership, with deep hands-on experience in SEO and paid search.

  • Proven success scaling growth in complex, high-traffic, digital-first or omnichannel businesses.

  • Experience managing large performance budgets and leading senior marketing leaders.
