EHS Specialist

EHS Specialist - This position requires a bachelor’ s degree in engineering, safety, environmental management or equivalent experience, plus five to ten years of EHS responsibility in an industrial setting. Equivalent experience would be another five years managing safety and/or environmental programs in an industrial environment, attendance at several private training courses, and completion of several training assignments.

Must have in-depth knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA rules applying to location’s processes.

The position requires effective oral and written communication skills, program presentations skills, and the ability to research, interpret, and administer Alcoa/location/governmental policies. Effective human relation skills, including the ability to influence, persuade and/or motivate people, are essential. Knowledge of computer operations, i.e. word processing, spread sheets, data base management, and internet research will be required to fulfill the expected tasks.

This position will require plant work in all departments and potential exposure to OSHA-acceptable levels of chemicals, solvents, noise, and outdoor elements. The incumbent shall remain abreast of and follow all plant safety, environment, substance abuse rules and policies and impart same to any person under the incumbent’s charge.
