Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Transportation

The Driver Recruiting Manager leads the recruiting and recruitment marketing strategy for Class-A Commercial Truck Drivers (both company or owner operators) specializing in our intermodal and drayage divisions. The goal is to build a recruitment marketing strategy to recruit 8-10 drivers per week. Partners with transportation leadership to define and implement advertising, sourcing, and recruitment strategy to support companies 6 drayage operating centers and annual growth initiatives. Directs a team of 4 recruiting personnel (2 Recruiters, 2 Processors). Creates recruitment marketing strategies to source qualified driver candidates through intelligent use of technology, cold calling, direct sourcing, networking, job fairs, truck shows, etc. Researches and explores emerging technology and legislation that may impact or expand companies’ ability to recruit drivers, independent contractors, and owner-operators. Talent development and career path advancements for recruiting personnel. Develops an aggressive sales culture and mentality in driver recruiting. Develops a system of metrics that continually monitors department performance and output. Provides sourcing and driver candidate pipeline transparency on weekly intervals. Coordinates the administrative requirements of running the recruiting department, to include department budgeting and spend forecasting. Collaborates with marketing department on branding guidelines, marketing creative, and external advertising strategy. Coordinates with risk and safety departments to ensure that all required application documents are obtained and archived for DOT compliance. Regularly reviews with risk and safety departments all driver qualification documents and independent contractor agreements for compliance. Maintains quarterly driver recruiting incentive/commission plan. Manages the effective use of the applicant tracking system (TenStreet) database of prior and current company applicants to source and recruit quality candidates. Travel 25%.

Background Required:
  • Managed driver recruitment & retention department (driver recruiters & processors) (5 years)
  • Owner operator driver recruitment (port, rail drayage, LMC)
  • Used technology in candidate sourcing, marketing, branding, and advertising
  • Applicant tracking systems
  • Influenced & negotiated with internal and external clients
  • Computer literate: MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint (or equivalent Google Suite)
  • Residence: Los Angeles, CA (Relocation Assistance)
