Who They Are
We're working with an innovative manufacturer of building envelope systems specializing in skylights, custom façades, and canopy & window systems. They combine technical engineering, functional mechanical constructability, and aesthetic design to deliver high-performance architectural solutions, especially for large commercial and parking garage projects. They are looking for a skilled CAD professional to turn architectural designs into buildable, high-performance façades, skylights, and kinetic wall systems. You’ll manage projects from contract through fabrication, create shop drawings and material submittals, coordinate with engineers, and ensure designs are both functional and precise. It’s a hands-on role where your glazing expertise and attention to detail directly shape innovative building solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Manage engineering phase of projects from executed contracts through issuance of the fabrication paperwork in adherence with project schedules.
  • Develop shop drawing, technical data and material submittals for client approval in accordance with contract scope.
  • Manage outside engineering consultants in the development of submittals and/or engineered calculations.
  • Perform material research as required.
  • Following approved shop drawings, develop 2D CAD fabrication drawings.
  • Develop Preliminary Material Orders (PMO) if required, Final Material Orders (FMO), and other essential documents in accordance with the contract scope.
  • Respond to questions as they arise from the fabrication group.
  • Assist estimating by providing documentation related to out-of-scope efforts.
  • Maintain project documents, data and files.

What You'll Need
  • Two-year degree in Engineering or Technical field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in glazing systems and/or custom fabrication work.
  • Excellent 2D CAD computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand architectural contract drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of field construction practices.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Technical aptitude with a desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor
  • Familiarity with aluminum die development.
  • Familiarity with air/water/structural testing of glazing or wall systems
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities with consistent follow-through.
  • Keen attention to detail, crave challenges, quick learner.
