Division Chief, Pediatric Neurosurgery

The Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University Health and Riley Children’s Health are seeking a transformational leader that will serve as the next Chief for the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery and as a collaborative leader in guiding the Riley Children’s Pediatric Neuroscience Initiative in collaboration with IU Health, Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute. With a comprehensive systemic system-wide commitment to the resources necessary to build a nationally respected program, we believe this role to be among the top legacy leadership opportunities available in pediatric neuroscience today.
The new leader must be accomplished in leading high-functioning teams in delivering cutting-edge, high quality surgical outcomes and in the advancement of established national best practices. Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight and mentorship for pediatric neurosurgical faculty in key areas of clinical quality, professional development, and academic productivity and excellence.
- Continue the expansion of Riley Children’s neurosurgical services with a goal of establishing the neuroscience program as a market leader in the state and region.
- Continue current efforts to recruit and retain faculty and staff with different backgrounds to build upon high-quality existing programs, promoting DE&I within the division and contributing academically across the system.

The Children's Clinical Research Center, located at Riley Hospital, is one of the largest pediatric research facilities in the country and has satellite ambulatory clinics in multiple cities across the state, and offers three sites for pediatric surgical care.

Candidate Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, and completion of an ACGME-accredited neurological residency and an ACPNF-accredited pediatric neurosurgery fellowship, be Board Certified in Neurosurgery and additional certification in pediatric neurosurgery by ABNS and ABPNS. Additionally, candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Indiana and possess a level of academic accomplishment commensurate with process qualifications for an IU faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. A track record of outstanding academic leadership experience and demonstrated accomplishment in fostering diverse healthy cultures known for their academic productivity across all missions is highly preferred. - The new Division Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery will be directly responsible to the Chair, Department of Neurological Surgery for the Division's overall function.

- New Medical Education and Research Building to be completed in 2025 with 3 Research Floors: Neurodegeneration, Cancer Experimental Therapeutics, Brown Immunotherapy Center. Additional space for Education Learning Centers and General Surgery Skills Lab.
- IU Health’s new medical campus project will build a new hospital and research and educational facilities across a 44-acre site in downtown Indianapolis. Targeted to open in late 2027, OVER $4 billion construction project.
- Planned Education Program expansion to include recruitment of PhD Education Director.
