Distribution Project Engineer
Company Overview:

Roles and Responsibilities:
This project engineer will perform aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis along with managing engineers on smaller, often multi-discipline, engineering projects and interfaces directly with clients. Initial expectations are for this individual to perform project work and develop local client relationships to prepare to lead a team doing similar work. Candidates will apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses to solve project-related problems.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
● Development of engineering work plans, budgets, and proposals
● Preparation of construction cost estimates
● Distribution design, including construction specifications and drawings
● Quality reviews of project deliverables
● Assigning tasks to/coordinating with internal/external project team members
● The main point of contact between the client and the company to ensure the project scope, schedule and budget are met
Required Education/Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry related experience) from an ABET accredited university required –engineering, engineering management, or construction management discipline preferred
● Five (5) + years of experience in the design and engineering of overhead and/or underground distribution lines (4kV through 35kV)
● PE License or ability to obtain one in the state of Texas within six (6) months of hire date
● The qualified candidate should be experienced with the following:
○ National Electric Safety Code
○ Utility standards
○ Distribution design software or utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, PLS-POLE, Distribution Design Studio, aeGIS, SPIDAcalc, ArcMap, PoleForeman, etc.
● Must have good written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
● Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
● Must have valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
● Some travel expected
Desired Education/Experience:
● Prior experience leading project design teams
● The preferred candidate would be experienced with the following:
● IOU Utilities
● Permitting including: City, County, State, Highway, & Railroad
● Familiarity with various scheduling and financial analysis tools for project management
