Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of a transportation company that houses a third-party logistics division and a courier organization. The third-party division focuses on dry van, less than truckload, intermodal, and various expedited courier services across North America. The courier organization is committed to time sensitive, high value and mission critical shipments, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. They are TSA compliant and is an expert at first and final mile ground transportation services for air freight shipments. Industries served include freight forwarders, customs brokers, transportation, logistics & warehousing, railroads, retail, government, defense, technology, electronics, manufacturing, trade show, entertainment, medical device, medical supply manufacturers & distributors, life sciences, biotech & pharmaceutical, and printing.

The Dispatcher is responsible for monitoring and dispatching 50 independent contractors. Advocate for drivers and works to manage driver utilization, service levels and quality-of-life. Evaluates the driver performance & supervises fleet during shift. Reports service failures and/or performance issues by drivers in a professional and timely manner. Complies with current and documented processes, policies, and procedures. Holds drivers accountable for given work assignments and follow through of dispatch. Understands and updates the current status of all drivers and their locations. Understands and has working knowledge for current hours of service guidelines and enforce compliance. Maintains honesty and integrity in all communications with drivers and fellow employees. Follows through with any suggested or required training by supervisor. Enters orders, plan and dispatch drivers.

Background Required:
• Dispatcher experience (2 yrs)
• Logistics planning (Driver schedules, route optimization)
• Metrics measurements (i.e. on time performance, exception management)
• Dispatch support software (i.e., SelectUS, McLeod, TruckMate, Netwise)
• DOT compliance (Logs, ELD, HOS)
• Computer literate: Microsoft Office
• Location: Wilmington, MA (No relo, no remote)

• Dedicated account management (i.e. customer facing)
• Tractor & trailer mechanical knowledge
• Operations (i.e. Logistics, Warehouse)
• Education: Bachelor’s degree (Business, transportation, or related)
