Position Responsibilities:
Working for a supply chain supplier that services the food and beverage industry. They provide transportation, warehousing, and logistical solutions for their clients. They have two facilities that service the northeast. Transportation includes truckload, intermodal, private fleet, freight forwarding and boxcar services. Clients include wholesalers and chain retail stores. More than 250,000 square feet in warehouse space, with food grade and temperature-controlled facilities. Licensed importer of alcoholic beverages and hold permits to ship to most states.
The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling and dispatching 3 dedicated trucks. This includes setting schedules, routes, and adjusting routes. They must be fully versed on carrier compliance (HOS, OSHA, DOT). This person has to be a proactive problem solver. Customer service is critical to success, as well as scheduling inbound loads. Advocate for drivers and works to manage driver utilization, service levels and quality-of-life. Evaluates the driver performance & supervises fleet during shift. Reports service failures and/or performance issues by drivers in a professional and timely manner. Complies with current and documented processes, policies, and procedures. Holds drivers accountable for given work assignments and follow through of dispatch. Understands and updates the status of all drivers and their locations. Understands and has working knowledge for current hours of service guidelines and enforce compliance. Maintains honesty and integrity in all communications with drivers and fellow employees. Follows through with any suggested or required training by supervisor. Enters orders, plan, and dispatch drivers.

Background Required:
  • Dispatcher experience (5 yrs)
  • Prioritized drivers’ schedules and routing
  • Monitored driver daily logs
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HOS
  • Understanding of safety metrics
  • Metrics measurements (i.e. on time performance, exception management, route optimization)
  • Education: High school diploma
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office
  • Residence: Edison, NJ (No relo, no remote)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Food & Alcohol logistics
  • Tractor & trailer mechanical knowledge
  • Operations (i.e. Logistics, Warehouse)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Business, transportation, or related)
