Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the COO of a family-owned specialty transportation company, offering a variety of services to include Rigging, Millwright work, Crating & Packaging, Industrial Storage and Heavy Haul Trucking.
The Dispatch Operations Manager is expected to be fair yet strong in all decisions and actions. Company policies will govern all interactions with colleagues and customers. This person will be charged with the management of the department which is all aspects of the daily trucking operation and its many components. Leading the team is the focus of the incumbent energy with the goal of building the best possible team to meet and exceed company goals and customer expectations of managing and monitoring schedules and commitments. Delegation and the management and oversight of the policies and procedures that the incumbent will help to implement will be part of the daily routine. It is understood that you will have and will stay up to date on all industry changes in law, equipment and technology options that affect the company and industry regarding transportation and our role in said. Responsibilities will include but ae not limited to the following: Oversee daily operations of all trucking related jobs; Setting, monitoring, and managing schedules of equipment, staff, and objectives; Safety management according to all State and Federal DOT rules and regulations; Oversee permit and escort needs and associated assignments and requests etc.; Manage a team of 5-10 dispatch team employees daily and delegation of duties; Assignment of duties within the managed team to achieve company goals and meet required metrics; Development of procedure and policy in conjunction with administrative team; conduct regular team meetings with all stakeholders; Set and manage interdepartmental goals; Manage both staff and equipment usage for greatest efficiency while maintaining customer service needs as directed by the VP of operations; Coordinate regularly with the maintenance (shop) supervisor on equipment needs, usage and status; Regular coordination with the other department heads of all companies is expected and required; Analytical skills, problem solving, and solutions presentation will be a regular daily obligation utilizing your team and all company resources for the best possible outcome to the specific issues; Communication channels with all departments and stakeholders is critical and needs to be a high priority; Understand and utilize all company systems such as but not limited to TMS, WMS, ELD, Radios, Phone, Email etc.; Will be required to be involved with all claims associated with the transportation division with internal claims personnel.

Background Required:
  • Heavy Haul transportation (HH/OD/Permitted) operations and/or dispatcher (5 years)
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations/requirements; ELD, HOS, etc.
  • Managed driver related concerns (i.e. recruitment, payroll, equipment)
  • Understands driver retention strategies
  • Familiar with transportation dispatch software (Prophesy, etc.), GPS tracking (Samsara, etc.)
  • Demonstrated safety awareness
  • Developed & implemented procedures and guidelines
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Location: Central New Jersey (Relocation assistance provided)
