Position Responsibilities:
Dispatch Manager Reporting to the General Manager of a privately held carrier of bulk liquid chemicals specializing in servicing refineries and utilities throughout California and the surrounding states. The company transports a diverse line of chemicals (mostly corrosives) including sulfuric acid, caustic soda and molten sulfur from terminals located in both northern and southern California. They have been in business since November of 1985 and operate with a fleet of 35 tractors and 80 trailers.
The Dispatch Manager will oversee a team of 2 Dispatcher’s & 1 Assistant Dispatcher whose responsibility is talk to drivers’ multiple times throughout the day to collect information about the loads they have hauled and/or have left to haul as well as provide details on where to pick up their next load. They will also be responsible to talk to customers multiple times throughout the day to ensure on-time and efficient delivery. The Manager will be responsible to ensure the highest level of service to both drivers and customers in addition to their dispatchers maintaining the requisite KPI’s and metrics put in place. They will use their McCleod software system to assist their dispatch team on staying up to date on load requests and customer cancellations and efficiently solving the daily challenges. A main focus will be to show a servant leadership mentality and help the company and their team best utilize technology on daily basis.

Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Bulk liquid chemical or hazardous material transportation
  • Personnel Management experience
  • Technology Implementation
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e., Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain)
