Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain and Logistics for a premier specialty retailer, operating more than 860 stores across the North America, and internationally via their eCommerce site. For over 75 years, from a single store to a global company, this organization serves as a single source for supplies.
The Director of Transportation will be a dynamic leader responsible for a high-performance transportation / logistics network that optimizes the flow of product, information and communication between our domestic and international vendors, Distribution Centers (DC), and Stores. Develop and manage a service-centric supply chain network that is both cost-effective and supports the needs of the Company. Direct and manage the Transportation Department that includes domestic, international, parcel, truckload, LTL, and intermodal. Develop, communicate, and implement strategy, vision and goals for the organization. $182MM+ Overall Freight Responsibility. $60MM Domestic Freight, $100MM Import Freight, $20MM E-Commerce Parcel, $2MM Expense budget. Transportation scope includes into/out of 4 Distribution Centers, from DC's into 860 stores across North America. Provides direct leadership for all strategic and tactical activities managing 5 direct 29 indirect reports..

Background Required:
  • Transportation Management or Supervision with experience in a major retail chain environment (8 years)
  • Initiated and executed cost / service improvement Transportation projects
  • Designed / provided strategic direction to domestic inbound & outbound Transportation operation and network
  • Knowledge of Ecommerce fulfillment
  • Ocean
  • Contract negotiations and direct service provider relationships
  • Transportation Management Systems (i.e., BluJay)
  • KPI’s/Metrics measurements (i.e., pricing, delivery, costs, quality audits)
  • Partner with other functional leaders to ensure company strategic goals and direction are met.
  • Demonstrated success utilizing TQM Processes and methodology
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for the Transportation annual financial budget plan and forecast
  • Working knowledge of WMS/ERP/SAP & transportation software
  • Travel: 10-15%
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e., Transportation, Supply Chain, Industrial or Logistics Engineering)
  • Residence: Greater Cleveland, OH (Relocation assistance provided)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Significant technology experience within WMS/TMS/SAP
  • Network modeling and optimization
