Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Transportation for a nationwide home builder. Privately owned company, with over 350 sites, and a private fleet of over 300 tractors, 300 trailers, and 400 light duty vehicles. The Director of Transportation Safety and Compliance oversees all DOT, Safety compliance for Federal and State Transportation & Trucking, Training and Risk Management objectives. The position is also responsible for the Company’s DOT Drug and Alcohol Program for all covered employees. Provides daily leadership to a team of Transportation Safety professionals. Full safety and compliance responsibility for the entire private fleet. The goal is to ensure complete compliance of all State and Federal DOT requirements and ensure all team members and equipment operate in a safe and effective manner.

Background Required:
  • Multi-Site Transportation safety and compliance leadership (+5 yrs, over 200 trucks)
  • DOT compliance, driver qualification, drug & alcohol programs, inspections, and audits
  • FMCSA and HOS Subject Matter Expert
  • Fleet safety program strategy and implementation (developing, implementing, and improving)
  • Accident Triage, Investigation, Prevention and Root Cause Analysis
  • Claim management process development
  • ELD implementation and support
  • Cab camera technology (i.e., Lytx, Samsara, Omnitracs)
  • Reporting safety and compliance statistics, reporting, and KPIs
  • Data analysis with risk assessment & and Safety Management
  • Travel: 25%
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Suite
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Knoxville, TN (relocating assistance provided)
