Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of a leading asset-based supply chain and logistics provider specializing in domestic & international freight, truckload brokerage, warehousing, distribution & fulfillment, project & on-site management.
The Director of TL Brokerage is responsible for development and growth of carrier sales teams, securing capacity to provide customers with the most efficient mode of transportation. Will take an active part in expanding the team in conjunction with sales and ongoing customer needs. Will establish and manage carrier relations and development activities that support the execution of strategies and action plans to enable the profitable growth of the business unit. Will manage the partner carrier network and develop strategies to ensure the partner carrier network meets customers’ requirements. Will lead the carrier sales team, securing capacity to provide customers with the most efficient mode of transportation for their products, on time and intact. Will manage the teams to execute daily functions while continuing to establish and manage relationships to expand capacity opportunities. Will work in coordination with other company resources, develop the strategic and tactical direction for the branch, establish departmental KPIs, and establish management processes. Challenge is to build a world-class team, develop high-level service offerings, motivate, and lead a staff, while increasing revenues and improving profitability.

Background Required:
  • Progressive experience in Carrier Sales capacity within Freight Brokerage (7+ years)
  • Management – hire, train, coach mentor (2+ years)
  • Service Offering (i.e. Truckload, LTL, Dry Van, Reefer, Intermodal, Warehousing, Enterprise, International)
  • Strong Negotiation Ability (Carrier, Customer, Margin Integrity)
  • Establish and manage Carrier Portal ensuring repeat capacity
  • Modes of transportation (i.e. Truckload, LTL, intermodal, Specialized)
  • Create a carrier following utilizing historical data and carrier management techniques.
  • Carrier Procurement KPI’s (i.e. load count, revenue, margin, load count, call logs)
  • Develop and execute business plan strategies
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Minneapolis, MN
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Freight Management Software – MercuryGate
  • Truckstop.com and DAT experience
  • Education: College Graduate - BA or BS
