What You’ll Lead

Surgical Operations & Clinical Excellence
Provide administrative and clinical leadership for inpatient and outpatient surgical services
Oversee operating rooms, ambulatory surgery, PACU, robotic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, and sterile processing
Ensure safe, efficient surgical care delivery across all procedural environments
Monitor surgical throughput, case flow, and operational efficiency
Support patient-centered surgical care and strong clinical outcomes

Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
Monitor surgical quality indicators, patient safety metrics, and infection prevention initiatives
Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives
Maintain high standards of surgical documentation and compliance

Operational & Financial Management
Oversee department budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation
Develop staffing models to support efficient surgical scheduling and patient throughput
Monitor key performance indicators and operational benchmarks
Participate in capital planning and evaluation of surgical technology investments

Physician & Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and medical staff leadership
Support physician engagement and service line development initiatives
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between surgical services and hospital departments
Serve as a liaison between surgical services and executive leadership

Staff Leadership & Development
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention of perioperative staff
Mentor nursing leaders and support professional development across the surgical team
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Support leadership development within the perioperative department

Who the Organization Is Seeking

You Must Bring

✓ Active RN License – Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license
✓ Surgical Services Experience – Minimum two years of surgical nursing experience in an acute-care hospital environment
✓ Leadership Experience – At least two years of supervisory or management experience
✓ Operational Knowledge – Understanding of surgical operations, staffing models, and departmental management
✓ Quality & Compliance Expertise – Familiarity with regulatory standards and patient safety initiatives within surgical services

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
CNOR certification
Experience overseeing complex surgical departments in acute-care hospitals
Strong experience working with surgeons and anesthesia leadership
Background in quality improvement and surgical efficiency initiatives
