Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Capacity of a fast-growing, tech enabled, logistics organization targeting the fragmented short-haul and drayage trucking markets.
The Director of Strategic Carrier Sales will lead the company’s overall Carrier Sales strategy. The Director will create and implement a comprehensive capacity procurement strategy, maintain relationships between carriers and the Company, and provide industry experience, guidance, and support to ensure continued growth and success in the department. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in carrier sales and management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up culture. Will create and calibrate performance metrics and KPIs for the Carrier Sales team, including but not limited to load coverage expectations, call volumes, and carrier development targets. Will develop and implement strategies for targeted and/or underperforming lanes. Will collaborate with executive leadership to develop an annual department business plan for inclusion in the company’s overall business plan, and provide long-term business growth, expansion, and headcount forecasting. Challenge is to build a world class team and increase revenues while maximizing profitability.

Background Required:
  • Strategic Carrier Sales, Carrier Procurement Experience (8+ years)
  • Carrier Sales Management (5+ years)
  • Modes of Transportation (i.e. Truckload, Dry Van, Reefer, LTL, Intermodal, Specialized)
  • Negotiations (Carrier, Customer)
  • KPI Management
  • Metrics measurements (i.e. pricing, delivery, costs, quality, audits)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience
  • Residence: Chicago, IL
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Transportation Management System (i.e. MercuryGate)
  • Experience within start-up environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
