Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the EVP of a multi-service transportation company.
The Director of Sales is responsible for the development and implementation of an aggressive growth plan for the company’s asset-based divisions. Will work in coordination with other company business units, develop the strategic and tactical direction for the outside and inside sales, establishing management processes and metrics for performance, and be accountable for financial and revenue growth of the sales team. Responsible for leading, training, and developing the sales teams to drive new business opportunities. Support the sales staff’s efforts to obtain new business opportunities by going on sales calls, identifying profitable business, and helping to close business. Will work to identify various sales opportunities, niche markets to meet the needs of potential customers. Execute a defined business plan for the sales team and prioritize support services, allocate resources to individual account executives, and cultivate the team’s business. Evaluate performance on an ongoing basis. Challenge is to build a world-class team, develop high-level service offering, motivate, and lead staff, while optimizing costs, increasing revenues, and maximizing profitability.

Background Required:
  • Sales and Business Development Management in asset-based transportation environment (6+ years)
  • Sales team development (Hire, Train, Coach, Mentor)
  • Mode of Transportation (i.e. Truckload, Intermodal, Flatbed, Specialized Heavy Haul)
  • Strong selling skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Develop and execute sales strategy
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Houston, TX
