Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP of Operations of a leading national provider of professional vehicle relocation services, primarily servicing large corporate fleets, fleet management companies, upfitters, dealerships and vehicle OEMs with fast, safe and reliable door-to-door driveaway and trucked transportation service nationwide. Services include fleet shipping and fleet management services; single vehicle “door-to-door driveaway” shipping; expedited shipping; enclosed carrier shipping for high-value vehicles; international (overseas) shipping; short-term and long-term vehicle storage; licensing, titling and registration of vehicles; and vehicle maintenance and reconditioning services.
The Director of Safety is responsible for standing up the safety, training, and compliance programs for the organization, including inspections and audits. Own and continually refine the organizational safety and compliance policies to ensure they are up to date with legal and regulatory changes and relevant to business operations. Develop a safety and compliance training regimen for employees and drivers. Will conduct safety and compliance trainings, investigations and audits as directed and serve as the subject matter expert for Federal, State, and local transportation laws, regulations, and restrictions applicable to all aspects of the driveaway industry. Will establish reporting and analytics metrics to, among other things, identify and address trends, opportunities and gaps in overall safety and compliance program, and refine the organization’s accident reporting and investigation procedures, serving as key liaison throughout the claims process when needed. Will collaborate with the Driver Recruitment team on driver qualifications, onboarding processes and trainings and build processes to ensure that all active drivers are compliant and enforce corporate directives to prohibit non-compliant drivers from being dispatched. Will ensure that organization implements safety best practices, permeating all aspects of corporate culture.

Background Required:
  • Experience in the Motor Safety field in a leadership capacity (5+ years)
  • Safety best practices, policies, standards & procedures
  • Claims management practices, policies, standards, and procedures
  • Safety audits and regulations (CSA, FMCSR, HMR, OSHA, DOT)
  • Familiarity with logs and all accompanying regulations
  • Executed and developed safety improvement programs & KPI’s
  • Accident, incident & injury investigation & prevention
  • Driver qualification, training & orientation process
  • Data analysis & report building and presenting
  • Project planning and project management experience
  • Software (i.e. Industry software, Microsoft Office)

Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Training and/or adult learning-teaching
