Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Co-Owner of a privately owned asset based regional transportation carrier.

The Director of Safety is responsible for leading and directing the safety program. Develops and promotes a safety culture across organization and to all stakeholders. Manages a cost-per-mile campaign. Develops and administers effective driver safety initiatives, metrics, and reporting mechanisms; while ensuring compliance with all company, state, and federal regulations. Provides on-going communication and coaching to drivers and field safety representatives. Administers corrective action and performance improvement plans to drivers, including documentation of issues and recommendations for continued improvement. Develops and recommends consistent strategies for the prevention of accidents and injuries. Provides effective and timely reporting mechanisms to monitor ongoing safety and compliance efforts. Investigates injuries and accidents and report in a timely manner, including on scene investigation to determine root cause(s) and preventative measures to prevent recurrence. Ensures operation is always 100% compliant with all Local, State and Federal regulations & reporting, including remaining current with all regulations. Moderate travel is required for terminal visits, conferences, events, or other business needs.

  • Transportation safety management (5 years)
  • Claims prevention, investigation & analysis
  • Driver hiring & training process
  • Driver Log Administration and Compliance (eLogs)
  • Accident & incident & injury prevention
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Residence: Albany, GA (Relocation assistance provided)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
