Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Safety of a $660 million drayage, container, regional, dedicated, truckload and logistics company that has been in business for over 50 years, specializing in intermodal services including, container depot operations, rail, warehousing and logistics throughout the West, Midwest, Ohio Valley, Gulf and East coast, with a team of over 160 multimodal experts and a fleet of over 1,300 company & independent contract drivers. This position is for a division that has focus in the Northeast, Southeast, and East Coast. The company is customer/safety-focused, and our dedicated driver, dispatch, support, and maintenance staff work to ensure superior service.
The Director of Safety is responsible for all safety & compliance and the overall direction and coordination of the company’s Safety Program and activities that lead to the prevention of accidents that harm people, property, or the environment. Their operations are comprised of 210 Company drivers and 85 independent owner operators, working from 10 locations. Will need to instill a positive safety culture and inspire their team to make effective changes in their current processes. Additional responsibilities include DOT compliance of driver qualification files, drug & alcohol testing, drivers’ hours of service, vehicle maintenance inspection tracking, hazmat compliance, accident & injury investigation and driver coaching utilizing in-cab event recorders. Challenge is to assure compliance of all regulatory requirements and development of one of the safest fleets in the industry.

- Driver On-Boarding & Orientation.
- CSA, FMCSA, DOT, & OSHA (BASIC scores in top 25% of carrier group)
- Cargo in transit/in storage security
- Accident-Incident, injury investigation, prevention
- On-board cameras (front/back)
- Residence: Newark, NJ
- Speak to & train large groups of drivers.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e. business, Logistics or Transportation)
- Excellent communications (written, oral and presentation)
- Coach & mentor drivers
- Motivates people through collaboration
- Innovation employing technology to prevent accidents and injuries
