Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Terminal Operations for a leading logistics provider serving the evolving needs of businesses in today’s same-day delivery world. Our client manages daily routed and on-demand delivery services across the country, with a dedicated team of professionals handling jobs of all shapes, sizes, timeframes, and locations. Through deep expertise in the automotive, ecommerce and medical industries, they drive visibility, flexibility, and predictability for their clients across the delivery spectrum from first call to the final mile and everywhere in between.
The Director of Retail Vendor Management is responsible for directing both customers and vendors that fall under the retail vendor vertical. They will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for both customers and vendors. This position requires mentoring, leadership, guidance, and maintaining accountability for various related projects and participants. The Director, Retail Vendor Management is responsible for maintaining the direction, corporate values, and policies. For the Vendor Management group.

Background Required:
  • Director or Operations Management in Transportation (8 yrs, 5 direct reports)
  • Vendor Management (pool, rate, and operational)
  • Retail final mile
  • Perform quarterly business reviews
  • Vendor sourcing and database management
  • Sourcing strategy (targeting, consolidation, RFPs, contract management)
  • Reporting (database standardization, rate cards, etc.)
  • Transportation rating and fuel surcharge programs (volume discounts, proactive market correction, score carding)
  • Use data to drive performance
  • Review KPIS (square footage, pallets on hold, product turnover, dwell time)
  • Truckload market data (DAT, capacity, spot pricing, sourcing,)
  • Address service failures (vendor and customer)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Suite
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Remote
