Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP of Operations of a regional transportation provider.

The Director of Refrigerated Operations oversees the general management of a temperature-controlled fleet. Promotes a work environment with an emphasis safety, service and communication. Utilizes data, analysis, and various metrics to drive continual improvement and cost reduction. Leads and develops people by providing a positive work environment through consistently promoting accountability and recognizing superior results. Reviews and analyzes daily load volumes and revenue to identify operation trends and efficiencies. Assists with new business development to provide solutions for customers’ needs and resolving issues. Proactively always keeps valued customers informed. Actively promotes a safety culture by continual communication, training and support of policies and legal requirements. Promotes and lead employee retention initiatives with willingness to listen, interact, and assist in conflict resolution. Regularly communicates with outside terminals to provide leadership and support. Works collaboratively with Human Resources, Accounting, Safety, and Maintenance Departments to ensure long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies are attained. Challenge is to maximize profitability through increasing utilization and optimizing costs.

Background Required:
  • Truckload temperature-controlled operational management (5 years)
  • Pricing & negotiation
  • Fleet Management, Customer Service, Load planning and extended coverage
  • Multi-facility management
  • P&L Responsibility
  • Safety, CSA, DOT, OSHA, FMCSA
  • Transportation software (AS 400, TMW, Qualcomm, Lytx, Drivewyze, TMT)
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Residence: Lynchburg, VA (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Maintenance and Corporate collaboration
  • Military background-experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e. Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
