Director of Procurement

We are recruiting for a Director of Procurement who will provide the overall direction in planning and implementing all procurement processes for goods, services and construction contracts. The Director of Procurement will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, and work closely with all Directors to develop and maintain consistent standards across all departments within the organization.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of high-performing individuals who will work together to help establish the organization as a national leader in it's field
  • Lead, manage, and assign work duties to a team of management and unionized staff members
  • Manage employee relations issues and union grievances
  • Train and develop department employees
  • Provide leadership, vision, and operational direction for the procurement team
  • Support the CFO in achieving the strategic and operational business goals of the organization
  • Monitor all procedures required for the efficient and effective operation of the department
  • Manage the procurement information management system

Your strengths include:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to facility construction and maintenance
  • Bachelor of Commerce and/or Business Administration degree
  • SCMP Designation
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and contract law
  • Knowledge of project delivery methods, including their benefits and risks
  • Thorough knowledge of the Trade Agreements related to Procurement
  • Extensive knowledge of the facility maintenance, design and construction industries
  • Demonstrated ability to build and enhance relationships with a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing change, building organizational talent, and empowering resources to achieve outcomes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and support staff to enhance productivity and team achievement
