Our national client (private equity backed) has been growing rapidly both organically and through acquisitions. We have been retained to identify a highly motivated Director of People and Culture to lead them through their expansion beyond 20 states. The ideal candidate for this role will promote a culture of service excellence, high performance and career growth across the business. The ideal candidate will operate at a strategic level and lead the tactical execution of our client’s policies and initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director will be responsible for managing the entire range of employee experience: talent acquisition, onboarding, training and development, benefits, performance management and employee engagement. Acquisitions are a key part of their growth, which means you’ll play an important role welcoming staff of newly-acquired firms, helping them understand, integrate into and add value to the success of the company.

There is a strong focus on change management: helping colleagues comfortably and quickly embrace new ways of working. Your goal will be to help the team align to the company’s business objectives: excellent client service and professional growth while fostering a high-performance culture.

You’ll supervise a human resource generalist and soon hire a recruiter. Yours will be a hands-on role; your work has exposure to the executive team and broad, direct interaction across our enterprise.

Key Responsibilities will Include:

  • Partner with senior management to enhance human resource practices, ensuring that company values are reflected in progressive and people-oriented decisions.
  • With each of firms acquired each year, you’ll oversee post-acquisition orientation, skills assessment, and communication of roles and responsibilities within our larger organization.
  • Responsibility for the spectrum of the employee experience: recruiting and onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and management training with the goal of creating a high-performance, satisfying workplace.
  • Serve as a champion for diversity, developing and guiding initiatives consistent with an equitable and inclusive environment.
  • Partner with management to address day-to-day issues including employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management and training.
  • Help develop our management team by guiding leadership development, training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Act as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating colleagues’ needs and delivering value added services for the benefit of the employees.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, coaching and listening skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to colleagues from the ‘front line’ to senior management.
  • Adept at analyzing and/or evaluating information, both quantitative and qualitative, and synthesizing this information to support recommended changes.
  • Great attention to details, deadlines and timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in progressively senior human resource roles.
  • Experience in professional / business services firms where the staff drive the client experience (e.g., financial services, consulting, accounting).
  • Must have strong understanding/experience in benefits
  • Demonstrated track record of building successful, high-quality teams across geographies and especially with a high percentage of ‘work from home’ colleagues.
  • Acquisition integration experience, especially with professional services businesses, is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or related fields.
  • SHRM Certification a strong plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable working in different HR systems
  • Experienced as a change agent with the ability to positively develop culture
