Director of Operations - Elkhart, IN

This organization is a manufacturer and retailer who is truly passionate about their craft. They are looking for a hands-on Director of Operations with extensive people leadership and operations experience who is comfortable managing and working alongside individuals across all levels of the business, from the shop floor to the C-suite and everywhere in between. They are seeking candidates local to Elkhart, IN who are comfortable with a full-time onsite commitment.

General responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee business performance and operations at assigned location.
  • Lead various departments, including Safety, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Develop strategies to enhance safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee engagement.
  • Manage capital requirements and facility maintenance.
  • Take ownership of facility financial performance.

More specifically:

  • Lead manufacturing teams to ensure consistent adherence to production schedules.
  • Define staffing structures to optimize on-time delivery, quality, and cost efficiencies.
  • Coordinate across departments to resolve production issues swiftly.
  • Control costs and drive profitability through strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and execute production schedules in partnership with Manufacturing Managers.
  • Serve as Emergency Coordinator, ensuring preparedness and response readiness.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture with a focus on incident prevention.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing/operations management roles.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing implementation.

  • Note that the role requires periods of sedentary deskwork as well as periods of work on the production floor.
