Summary of Qualifications
- Ensure smooth and efficient operations across all transportation activities, providing 24-hour department coverage as needed.
- Supervise and support all transportation drivers and administrative personnel to ensure accountability, timeliness, and performance.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all delivery and backhaul logistics to ensure products move accurately and efficiently.
- Enforce compliance with all Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) and safety regulations, maintaining fleet safety and readiness.
- Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly to the Senior Transportation Manager and Safety Manager.
- Manage teammate scheduling and ensure all shift and dispatch schedules are accurate, posted, and communicated in advance.
- Provide ongoing training to enhance workforce efficiency, knowledge, and adherence to company standards.
- Facilitate communication between management and team members to build trust, accountability, and collaboration.
- Maintain and analyze productivity data, including unload rates, stops, routes, and timing to optimize delivery performance.
- Assist in developing and implementing new techniques and procedures to increase operational efficiency.
- Enforce company policies and handle disciplinary actions with fairness and professionalism in coordination with HR.
What youll bring to Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in outbound transportation or logistics operations, preferably within the foodservice distribution industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with mainframe computer software for operational reporting; preferred systems include AS400, Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, XATA, TRUCKS, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and planning skills, with 2–3 years of experience in accounting, reporting, or performance metrics.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply DOT, safety, and operational standards.
- Working knowledge of distribution systems, routing, and financial implications of transportation performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to produce reports, policies, and correspondence with clarity and precision.
- Physical ability to safely ascend and descend stairs or ramps as part of routine route supervision.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
