Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development for a leading logistics provider offering multiple transportation solutions including middle truckload service. This is a rapidly growing transportation organization that will continue to grow both organically and through acquisitive growth. With a fleet of over 750 trucks, and the services of brokerage, yard management, dispatch, market analysis, rate negotiations, and cutting-edge technology, they will continue to grow in an exciting environment. This organization manages daily routed and on-demand delivery services across the country, with a dedicated team of professionals handling jobs of all shapes, sizes, timeframes, and locations. Through deep expertise in transportation, they drive visibility, flexibility, and predictability for their clients across the delivery spectrum from first call to the final mile and everywhere between.
The Director of Network Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all Network Operations’ activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future changing needs. Currently, the primary focus will be to drive profit improvement and use of McLeod and Manhattan tools throughout the organization. These systems are currently implemented, and a special project team is updating SOPs, input data, and output tables. Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the entire network. Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials. Work with sales, operations and the technical departments on technologies and systems to improve network operations. Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, facility utilization, and services are in line with the firm’s business plan and vision. Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations, sales, finance and IT projects and systems. Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the Vice President of Corporate Development and other members of the Leadership Team. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in logistics and freight network operations management.

Background Required:
  • Truckload Senior Leadership (5 yrs.)
  • Truckload Operations (10 yrs.)
  • P&L Management (350 plus trucks)
  • Establish, execute and deliver principles, procedures, and best practices
  • Metrics measurements (i.e. key performance indicators)
  • Familiarity of networks in transportation
  • TMS Systems (ie: TMW, McLeod, Manhattan, Peoplenet, Omnitracs, Experion)
  • Computer literate: Office Suites, Tableau (or similar system)
  • Travel: 35%
  • Residence: North Atlanta/Buckhead, GA or Nashville, TN (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Independent contractor, fleet owner & agency exposure within truckload
  • Linear Programming, building models, programming languages (Python)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Education: MBA or bachelor’s degree with Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation
