Currently seeking a talented and dedicated Director of Medical-Surgical Med Surg for a great opportunity in the Southern, TX area. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of current experience working in an acute care hospital and 3+ years of experience working in a Medical-Surgical Department in a leadership role.

Responsibilities of the Director of Medical-Surgical Med Surg

• Manages and directs the daily operations of the patient care nursing unit to ensure the accomplishment of established departmental goals
• Plans, delegates, and coordinates patient care to ensure that high-quality patient care is rendered
• Demonstrates creativity, intelligence, and discretion in the planning, organizing, and coordination of departmental functions
• Assess a situation, considers alternatives, and chooses the appropriate course of action with few errors
• Conducts departmental meetings as required
• Effectively manages personnel conflicts to ensure little interference with work performance
• Routinely uses policy and manuals and other reference materials to ensure proper course of action
• Provides accurate and timely information using discretion and protecting the confidentiality of information
• Has a cost-conscious attitude to time usage, materials, and supplies
• Prepares and provides for departmental needs with budget guidelines
• Monitors and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of new employees within the probationary period
• Enforces hospital policies and procedures
• Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the Med/Surg team Education

Requirements of the Director of Medical-Surgical Med Surg

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
• Masters degree strongly preferred
• Current and Valid TX RN license
• BLS and ACLS required
• 5+ years current experience working in acute care hospital in the Medical-Surgical Department
• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in the Medical-Surgical Department
