Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a premier regional LTL carrier.

The Director of Maintenance has direct oversight and planning of 4 company shops and rolling assets (350 trucks, 1,100 trailers). Leads 3 shop manager direct reports and 25 technicians: The tractors are primarily made up of; half = Kenworth, Peterbilt; half = Volvo, Freightliner & International with an average age of 5 years (trailers 6 years). 13 million annual miles run. Maintains a $ 20 million-dollar P&L to control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs. The goal is to modernize maintenance policies, procedures, and transition the fleet to zero-emission vehicles. Will be part of the discovery process to purchase and change-over to a new maintenance software. Develops and maintains efficient shop performance standards (standard repair times (SRT’s) KPI’s, procedures (SOP’s) and policies. Maintains strict adherence to company operations, safety policies, and develops/amend SOPs as needed. Adheres and is aware of all DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules/regulations. Creates and assures the accuracy of parts inventories and monitors cost versus budget. Oversees vehicle preventive maintenance schedules and process to ensure a timely PM program is tracked and executed on schedule. Interviews, trains, and coaches subordinate staff members and completes employee assessments and performance reviews. Provides reports to senior leadership weekly/monthly. Creates and implements a business plan for area of responsibility including processes, protocols, and procedures to streamline productivity and set benchmarks. Develops relationships with OEM’s and outside vendors to partner with for service and new equipment purchasing. Coordinates all new equipment in service preparation and installation tasks. Works with OEM’s and dealers to maximize warranty recovery.
