MED/SURG ICU DIRECTOR (FT)

Job Summary :Responsible for leadership, clinical nursing practice, monitoring, and ongoing performance improvement of designated nursing unit(s). Knowledge of finances and productivity is necessary. Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and tasks appropriate to each age group. Accountability for evaluating and managing performance, policies, programs, and services for effectiveness and consistency with the mission, goals, and objectives of the organization. Provides leadership through mentoring and career development. Performs within the prescribed limits of the District and department legal compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the compliance Officer or District hotline.
This is a director level position and requires management of a broad range of patients with specific training and experience in handling the Surgical Services needs of all. Education: Masters Degree
Ensures the quality outcome in a cost effective manner for the facility.
Provides Patient care in area of licensure carrying a 50% patient load.
Provides education and direction of the team’s function, purpose and goals.
Communicates, collaborates and coordinates with team members to provide quality patient care and to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Provides education in the areas of clinical competency, continuous quality improvement, infection control, employee health, case management and program evaluation.
Recruits and manages designated clinical and support staff.
Evaluates and counsels team members on an ongoing basis and as appropriate.
Effectively generates action plan for solving problems and resolving conflicts as they occur in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Current Texas License.
Registered Nurse with Bachelor’s degree.
Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 5-10 years previous management required.
Previous experience directing a larger nursing department (20+ FTE’s or more) required.
Current BLS required. ACLS, TNCC, NRP, PALS / ENPC, CPI / Stable or other certifications based on areas of responsibility.
