Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of a full-service international logistics firm with 23 locations and a portfolio of services to include customs brokerage, global freight forwarding, domestic transportation, project logistics, warehousing, technology solutions and cargo insurance. The Director of Inbound is responsible for the profitability of the Los Angeles Ocean Imports product and team performance of 10+ staff including Operations and Customer Service. Implements new strategies and service offerings based on volume analysis, trade lane expansion strategy, and relationship building with carriers and master loaders. Supports expansion of Ocean Imports business within the US while driving quality and regulatory compliance. The successful individual will eventually lead the US Inbound team and act as the bridge between the Inbound Product Executive Management, Regional Route Management, Pricing & Procurement, Sales, and Key Account Management, to all other relevant sectors of the organization.

Background Required:
  • Ocean carrier or NVOCC pricing (8 years)
  • Team Management (3 years, 10+ staff)
  • P&L Management & Budgeting
  • Multimodal (Ocean Import, Local Trucking, Drayage)
  • Establish standard operating procedures & metrics
  • Business plan preparation and implementation
  • Extensive knowledge of Transpacific ocean import trade lanes
  • Direct customer interaction in customer service and/or sales
  • Familiarity with ocean carriers’ services & service capabilities
  • Understanding of and the ability to interpret ocean carrier tariffs & service contracts
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Computer systems: Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Greater LAX market
