Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Owner of a transportation company.

The Director of Human Resources plans, directs, and implements policies for all areas of human resources including staffing, recruiting, compensation, benefits, training and development, employee relations, safety, and compliance. Leads a team of 1 direct report (HR assistant). Develop, create, and maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures in compliance with employment laws and practices. Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and objective investigation. Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies. Ensures employees are abiding by policy. Communicates to employees about benefits enrollment and conducts an annual analysis on benefits package. Coach managers on recognizing and managing various levels of performance, linking performance to rewards. Leads recruitment efforts. Arranges training and development for all new employees and management in conjunction with interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, safety, and risk management. Will be a part of the management team and advise the group from an HR perspective. Serves as an advocate for both the company and employees. The goal is to foster an environment of continued development and success for all personnel.

Background Required:
  • Human Resources management (5-10 years)
  • Benefits selection and management
  • Personnel Management
  • On-boarding, training & development of new employees
  • Labor law compliance (i.e., EEOC, OSHA, FMLA)
  • Payroll software (e.g., ADP)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft suite, Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Familiar with the Transportation Industry
  • Human Resources Certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (human resources or related field)
