Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the COO of a Reporting to the COO of a rapidly growing asset-based 3rd party organization specializing in transportation, logistics and warehousing. The Director of Human Resource is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function.
The Director of Human Resources will be the tactical business partner providing regional support, counsel and advice on human resource strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Will help support large warehouse locations, multiple transportation operations and all employees. Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of Human Resources policies, objectives and initiatives with staff to support organizational development, recruiting, training, on-boarding, compensation, benefits, employee development, employee relations, governmental & legal, risk management and HR information systems (HRIS). Ultimately responsible for staffing and human resource generalist initiatives within the Transportation and Warehousing operations. Provides guidance on labor and union related engagement. Maintains working knowledge on current Human Resources trends and best practices. Objective is to support fast organizational growth.

Background Required:
- Progressive Human Resources functional role within Warehousing and Transportation
- 4-10 years of related experience or training
- Employee Recruitment Strategies i.e. (college/university/professional recruiting efforts, print/media)
- Coaches leadership team in areas of corrective counseling, performance management and employment practices and new company initiatives.
- On-boarding, Training & Development of new employees
- Benefits & Insurance Management and Policies knowledgeable
- Labor Law compliance (EEOC, OSHA, FMLA, Union Agreements and procedures)
- Transportation Regulations (DOT, ELD, FMCSR, CFR-49)
- HR Information Systems (HRIS) knowledgeable, Ulti PRO, Kronos, ADP & Ceridian
- Computer literate (Microsoft suite, Power Point, Word, Excel)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
- Travel: Locally, Overnight.
- Residence: San Leandro CA
- PHR, SPHR or GPHR certification
- Familiar with the Logistics and Transportation Industry
- Education: Advanced Degree
- Excellent communications (Verbal & Written)
- Strong presentation skills, internal and external
- Ability to multi task & prioritize frequently changing needs
- Work as a team player with employees at all levels
