Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President for a for a regional transportation provider.
The Director of Fleet Maintenance has direct oversight and planning for all trucks and trailers. Controls maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs. Operates and utilize computerized diagnostic (TMT) and other tracking systems. Creates and maintains efficient shop performance standards (standard repair times (SRT’s) KPI’s, procedures (SOP’s) and policies. Maintains strict adherence to company operations, safety policies, and develop/amend SOPs as needed. Adheres and awareness of all DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules/regulations. Creates and assures the accuracy of parts inventories and monitory cost versus budget. Oversees vehicle preventive maintenance schedules and process to ensure a timely PM program is tracked and executed on schedule. Interviews, trains, and coaches subordinate staff members and completes employee assessments and performance reviews. Strong leader for driver retention efforts with entire maintenance staff through encouragement, coaching and active participation within your department and throughout the entire company. Direct supervisory staff in the planning of rolling stock repair and maintenance jobs. Provides reports to senior leadership weekly/monthly. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Creates and implements a business plan for area of responsibility including processes, protocols, and procedures to streamline productivity and set benchmarks. Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Develops relationships with OEM’s, outside vendors to ensure current, future technology and outside assistance is the correct partner we want to utilize for service and new equipment purchasing. Develops a written Safety and Health Program, Hazard Communication Program, PPE Assessment – Written Hazard Assessment, training, and certification. Coordinates all new equipment in service preparation and installation tasks. Works with OEM’s and dealers to maximize warranty recovery. Travel 35%.

Background Required:
- Class-8 fleet maintenance management (15 years)
- Diesel technician (10 years)
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations
- Effectively manage 20+ employees in multiple locations
- Maintenance TMS software (i.e., TMT, Dossier)
- Financial, Administrative, & budgeting
- Vendor relations and negotiations (onsite & on-the-road)
- Improved cost-per-mile (CPM)
- Inventory management: Parts management, procurement & warranty
- Regular preventative maintenance compliance - RPM
- Location: Newark, NJ
- Education: College degree or Maintenance Certification
- Excellent communication (i.e., verbal, written, text, listening, presentations)
- Leadership
- Detail-oriented
- Understand workflows
- Highly organized; able to multitask and work well under pressure
