Salary: $100,000 - $140,000

About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and growing real estate development and property management company, is seeking a Director of Finance to join their leadership team
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a large real estate portfolio while supporting the organization's continued growth into more complex investment structures. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, investors, auditors, and legal advisors, providing strategic financial guidance while ensuring accurate reporting and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across multiple entities.
- Develop consolidated reporting packages for executive leadership, Boards, and investors.
- Analyze portfolio performance, financial results, and key performance indicators.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare cash flow projections, financial models, and scenario analysis.
- Support capital planning and investor return analysis.
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee financial accounting, consolidations, accruals, fixed assets, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/ASPE accounting standards.
- Develop financial controls and reporting processes for new investment entities.
REIT & Limited Partnership Reporting
- Manage financial reporting and compliance for REIT and LP structures.
- Prepare investor reporting packages and partnership allocations.
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors.
- Support executive leadership with investment analysis and entity structuring.
Leadership
- Mentor and develop members of the finance team.
- Lead process improvements, automation initiatives, and special finance projects.
- Serve as a key liaison with financial institutions, investors, and external advisors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 7-10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Experience within real estate, property management, REITs, investment funds, or multi-entity organizations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- IFRS and/or ASPE
- Financial reporting
- Consolidations
- Partnership accounting
- Investor reporting
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring finance teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
