Director of FP&A

Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Company: PE-Owned Environmental Consulting & Logistics Platform
Revenue: ~$600M–$1B
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Exit Horizon: 2–4 Years
Role Type: Individual Contributor (with planned team build)

The Opportunity

A private equity–backed environmental consulting and logistics company ($600M–$1B revenue) is seeking a Director of FP&A to serve as the CFO’s right-hand partner and lead all enterprise-wide FP&A activities. The business is executing a defined value-creation plan with a 2–4 year exit timeline.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for an FP&A leader coming from a high-pressure, performance-driven environment (PE-backed or equivalent) who wants full ownership of financial planning, analytics, and executive-level reporting, with the opportunity to build a team as the organization scales.

Role Scope & Responsibilities

  • Own all company-wide FP&A, including annual budget, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, and scenario modeling across a complex, multi-line business.

  • Develop and maintain integrated financial models supporting growth initiatives, margin improvement, capital allocation, and exit readiness.

  • Lead monthly executive and Board-level reporting, including KPI dashboards, variance analysis, and performance narratives for senior leadership and PE sponsors.

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to the CFO, providing insight into risks, opportunities, and value-creation levers.

  • Partner closely with VPs and Directors across operations, consulting, logistics, sales, and corporate functions to drive performance visibility and accountability.

  • Collaborate with IT to streamline, automate, and scale reporting and analytics, improving data quality, speed, and decision usefulness.

  • Support M&A, integration, synergy tracking, and diligence activities as applicable.

  • Design the future-state FP&A organization and hire/build a team as the business grows.

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with meaningful exposure at the enterprise level.

  • Prior experience in PE-backed, transaction-oriented, or similarly high-pressure environments is required.

  • Demonstrated success supporting $600M–$1B revenue organizations with complex operations.

  • Extensive experience presenting to executive teams and Boards.

  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities; able to operate strategically while remaining highly hands-on.

  • Track record of improving FP&A processes, systems, and reporting through automation and standardization.

  • MBA preferred; CPA or CFA a plus.

Why This Role

  • True ownership: Full responsibility for FP&A with minimal layers.
  • CFO partnership: Direct influence on strategy, performance, and exit outcomes.
  • PE exposure: Regular interaction with sponsors and involvement in value creation.
  • Growth path: Opportunity to build and lead a scalable FP&A team.
  • Company culture: Growing company with fun culture.
  • Defined exit: Clear linkage between performance and enterprise value over a 2–4 year horizon.
