Our client is a 250+bed tertiary care teaching hospital that serves the region as a Level II Regional Trauma Center, located in North Central Pa. The hospital is nationally renowned for its cardiac surgery program, is home to a state-of-the-art cancer center and other advanced care services.

The Nursing Director, as department head, is responsible for the total management of the Emergency Department inclusive of resolution of coverage and scheduling issues. The Nursing Director provides clinical and administrative leadership and expertise; facilitates an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among all team members. The Nursing Director promotes a climate for effective performance while allocating available resources to promote efficient, effective, and quality nursing/patient care. The Nursing Director contributes to the development and implementation of strategic planning processes, day-to-day operations, and attainment of organizational and departmental goals. The Nursing Director is accountable for the management of patient care, human, fiscal, regulatory compliance and distribution and usage of material resources, as well as the total environment of the nursing unit on a twenty-four hour basis.

Education

• Must possess a BSN with a Masters Degree preferred.
• Candidate in progress of attaining Masters Degree may be considered.

Experience

• Strong preference for candidates with Certification in area of specialty
• Candidates must have a minimum of three years in a tertiary Emergency Department or Trauma Center.
• Strong preference for candidates with greater than four years in a tertiary Emergency Department or Trauma Center.
• Computer Literacy is also a requirement.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate and articulate strong understanding of clinical and operational components of the Emergency Department, financial processes and recognized operational challenges to Emergency Department structures and operations.
