Director of Emergency Services

  • 420+ bed acute care hospital with 25+ years serving northeast Houston
  • Level II Trauma Center with 37 beds seeing 182 patients/day

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department
  • Lead service growth, development, and personnel management
  • Identify and solve operational problems with effective follow-through
  • Participate in service, departmental and hospital-wide committees
  • Advance patient experience initiatives in the Emergency Department
  • Coach and develop staff through feedback and individual development plans
  • Build strong relationships to deliver organizational and department goals
  • Enforce standards of emergency department care and compliance
  • Develop and evaluate emergency services programs aligned with hospital mission
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies
  • Oversee performance improvement programs
  • Support staff recruitment and talent development

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to VP Emergency Services (who reports to hospital CNO)
  • Oversees 2 managers, 5 CNCs, and core staff of 85 FTEs

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of recent ACUTE CARE Director or Manager ED experience
  • Experience managing Emergency Services in a Level 1 or 2 trauma center
  • Experience managing an ER with annual volumes of 50,000+ patients
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required
  • Current RN license in practicing state
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $127,649 - $191,464 (based on experience)
  • Annual Bonus: 17.5% Director Bonus (based on performance with 150% upside potential)
