Director of Product Compliance

DESCRIPTION

The Director of Compliance will be a key member of the management team and will oversee the company’s processes and systems for ensuring compliance related to Product Safety, Trade Compliance, Customs Entries and CBP management. Scope includes U.S. federal and state regulations, requirements outside the U.S. related to exports, and e-Commerce Retailer requirements.


Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement processes and systems for Environmental & Safety product compliance
  • Develop and implement processes and systems for Import Trade compliance, Customs Entries and management
  • Manage a team of compliance specialists
  • Coordinate with various company functions to ensure compliance
  • Monitor international, federal, and local compliance requirements and prepare the company to meet new requirements
  • Manage and conduct ongoing reviews of products to identify and meet all regulatory and retailer requirements, to include e-Commerce Retailer requirements as well
  • Oversee Product and Trade compliance audits
  • Oversee and improve efficiency of product testing processes
  • Manage compliance documentation and reporting
  • Oversee training programs related to compliance
  • Manage responses to retailer and consumer questions and requests on compliance topics
  • Communicate with senior management on high priority compliance issues


Necessary Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background and experience in consumer product compliance (Environmental, Safety and Trade)
  • Strong management skills and experience
  • Superior abilities in developing and implementing process improvements
  • Proven ability to integrate compliance activities into efficient routinized business activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a growing, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience in management of Intellectual Property, Quality Assurance/Quality Control is a plus


Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS or BA in relevant field; Graduate degree in science or business preferred
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of product compliance related experience
