Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer for an agency/owner operator-based company with offices throughout the 48 contiguous states, offering truckload services including flatbed, vans, and specialized equipment. With revenue in excess of $200 mil, the company has 400 tractors, over 1000 trailers, 75 employees, operating from 82 agent facilities / 3 corporate offices across the United States.
The Director of Compliance is responsible for: regulatory compliance, and trend analysis. The continued focus is mitigating loss, maintaining satisfactory safety rating, providing detail trend analysis to support Company safety initiatives to benefit the company in the following: Federal and State Regulatory compliance; Support VP Safety with critical data, cause/effect of incidents; Promote Safety culture. Insure internal and external accountability, build long-term internal and external relationships, possesses knowledge of Hazmat compliance, and will have a meaningful impact on the overall effectiveness of company compliance and accident mitigation. Focus and responsibility is to analyze, report and mitigate company risks/exposures, utilizing internal data and reports. Provide technical expertise on regulatory issues, roadside cause and effect and providing critical trends to VP Safety. Ensure qualifications team is meeting the company compliance standards. Using the data and reporting, monitor and evaluate the compliance, safety performance and trends of each terminal and operating authority. Provide analysis, specific input, and results to support VP of Safety initiatives for improving measured results. Work directly with VP of Safety to develop compliance orientation in conjunction with overall orientation. Maintain ownership to ensure Owner Operator agreements meet and comply with federal & state requirements. Continued utilization of technology to increase effectiveness of safety suite program, reporting and prevention. Maintain certification as a Hazardous Materials Technician. Minimum Travel Requirements - Travel as required to support and effect best practices. Facilitate all DataQ challenges; Manage MMR process – determine need/benefit/risk. Automate function, redeploy human capital; Roadside inspections – work within portal/safety suite, manage complete process to meet regulations; Own safety suite relationship – determine vender partner integrations, continue to drive improved reporting from safety suite; Annual Reviews; CTPAT compliance for all entities; All aspects of Compliance – HOS, Physical, Plates/IFTA, D&A Compliance, Develop company policies for data retention from ELD, Dash Cam etc., Develop company policies utilization of data, event management and analysis, Provide critical information for orientation team relating to Compliance and Accident reporting, Accident Reporting, and other compliance items as required.

Background Required:
  • Senior safety / compliance management (5 -10 yrs)
  • Personnel management
  • DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and FFDA, ELog, HOS
  • Implemented safety programs & policies
  • Accident avoidance technology & application for driver safety
  • Developed safety incentives & awards for drivers
  • Developed compliance programs & processes to measure & monitor company’s safety records against industry benchmarks-best practices
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e. Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
  • Residence: Central Indiana (relocation assistance)
