About the Role

We are seeking a high energy and driven Director of Underwriting to lead the Commercial Lines Underwriting team for our client.

What you will be doing

• Manage all underwriting functions for a large Commercial Insurance Underwriting team
• Help tune strategic direction and drive alignment with strategy goals
• Drive transformation and process improvement across the Underwriting function
• Drive high agency engagement including being agent facing at times.
• Ensure underwriting alignment with CAT strategy.
• Manage direct reports to more effectively motivate and grow their teams.
• Work with IT to streamline underwriting tools and processes for better efficiency

What you need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 10+ years in P&C underwriting
• Proven commercial lines underwriting leadership experience
• Must have managed managers in the past.
• Proven track record managing a commercial book for profitability and risk control
• In-depth know-how of commercial underwriting, regs, and contracts
• Strong skills in building relationships and communicating clearly
• Sharp analytical thinking for risk assessment
